Amazing underwater museum in Europe

When we travel to a new city we are concerned with knowing its history and art has always been one of the most accurate ways. Practically all cities have several museums that open the door not only to the history of the city, but also to the vision of different artists, the scientific or anthropological world.

The cultural tourism has become therefore an acclaimed experience, especially because they are the museums themselves who try to differentiate themselves with unique works and we can always find some surprises.

In 2009 we were astonished to see the opening of the first underwater museum in the world (MUSA). This museum has more than 500 sculptures in the depths of the waters surrounding Cancun, Isla Mujeres and Punta Nizuc in Mexico. There awaits the works of the sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor, which now we can also see in Europe.

And is that the same sculptor has participated with the Atlantic Museum, the first underwater museum in Europe that is located on the island of Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain. It has an area of approximately 2,500 square meters, about 12 meters deep, and there we can see more than 300 life-size sculptures that represent everyday situations.

The creation of the museum has taken more than two years, but finally “opens its doors” to become, in addition to an artistic experience, a large-scale artificial reef that helps the conservation of the environment.

We invite you to immerse yourself with us and know a little more closely some of the sculptures that we find in this underwater museum. No doubt the experience has to be great, do not you think? More info: casasincreibles
